Population: 13,696 (2008 estimate)

Clarkesville is the county seat for Habersham County. One of Habersham's oldest towns, it was chartered in 1823 and named for John Clark, governor of Georgia from 1819-1823.

Clarkesville was also a summer resort town, catering to coastal families who wanted to escape the heat and diseases of the low-lying areas. Visitors can stop by the Mauldin house, an old homestead, now a Chamber of Commerce information center.

Clarkesville's historic square is home to a growing number of antique shops, stores, restaurants, and specialty shops.

Ranked high in retirement living, Clarkesville is a desirable real estate market for the 55+ segment. Let me help you find the retirement home of your dreams.
